Combat Medical Tactical Mechanical Tourniquet, TMT

Description

This is a Tactical Mechanical Tourniquet, TMT, from Combat Medical that is used in the US Military. It is a hemorrhage control device for life threatening bleeds from extremities that cannot be remedied with normal gauze and pressure, or arterial bleeds. Unlike other tourniquets, the TMT can be easily separated and re- attached without needing to thread fabric through Tri-Glide buckles during a life threatening situation. There is an easy to use, solid buckle that can be quickly separated to allow for easier self or buddy aid, especially on injured legs without needing to undo the tourniquet or open it up and slide up the patient’s limb. Similar to other tourniquets on the market, the TMT does close and adjust with hook and loop, The strap on the TMT is 2″ wide, reducing discomfort during application, and this increased width combined with the large plastic plate under the torsion bar creates more even pressure the whole way around the extremity. The torsion bar locks securely into the Retaining clip to prevent a loss of tension when moving the patient or treating other injuries. There is a time label tab at the very end of the hook and loop strap. Overall this is a great option for your IFAK to control arterial bleeding or other massive hemorrhage on extremities.
