These are M7 amplifiers for the M40 gas mask. These are issued within the US Military to allow users to be able to speak more audibly while wearing gas masks. The amplifier threads into the masks voicemitter. To operate the user just needs to push the button once, turning the amplifier on and a second press turns it off. The amplifier requires one 9 volt battery to operate.
