Description
These are Prototype USMC APECS Parka in Woodland MARPAT that were tested by the USMC. These parkas are similar to the ECWCS Level 6 jackets in use with the US Army, but are a bit heavier in construction. These parkas were likely some of the last iterations created prior to the adoption of the adoption/issued version. Like its adopted counterpart, the parka features two large pockets with hook and loop closures on the stomach and regular hoodie style pockets behind them. Allowing it to function as a standalone jacket without relying on layers underneath to have pockets. The shoulders also have pockets with hook and loop closures. There are also two flat chest pockets that close with a covered water resistant zipper. Zippers on the armpits allow for ventilation during warm weather. Inside the collar is a stowable hood to keep the user’s head dry. The wrist cuffs adjustable with hook and loop and the waist is adjustable with shock cord and cord locks found inside the large front pockets. Where these parkas differ the most is the presence of mesh internal pockets. Inside the parka we have 3 internal access mesh pockets located behind the external waist pockets and one on the back section, additionally the 2 external access chest pockets are mesh lined instead of the normal Gore-Tex material. Overall these are a great look into a one of various solicitations created by government contractors in an attempt to get the bid for the adopted item and would be a great add to any USMC or milsurp collection.
