These are Prototype USMC Cold Weather Combat Shirts. These shirts were likely trialed during the Fire Resistant Organizational Gear (FROG) trials held by the Marine Corps prior to their full scale adoption of the FROG system in 2007. Unfortunately, the Marine Corps isn’t to keen on sharing information about items they have trialed in general so what we know about these pieces is limited. These USMC Cold Weather Combat Shirts feature a weather resistant outer material for the sleeves, shoulder and waist area with a breathable shirt material in the center of the shirts front and back, waist cinches, 1/4 zip collar, shoulder pockets with loop squares, reinforced elbows, pen pocket on the left sleeve and adjustable sleeve cuffs. One unique thing that stands about this shirt over its adopted counterpart is its more anorak shape. Unlike most combat shirts that are designed to be run tucked in the presence of the waist cinches leads us to believe these were designed to be run untucked allowing for better breathability when worn with body armor or chest rigs. We surmise these were likely a trialed alongside the USMC’s current Inclement Weather Combat Shirt (IWCS) that was ultimately adopted (although we wish these had been instead). Overall, these are one awesome shirt that would make a great add to any USMC or general milsurp collection.

Features:
- Water Resistant – It can be exposed to water for a short period of time without being damaged or saturated with water. Generally not recommended to submerge Water Resistant items unless item is made for that level of exposure.
- Wind Resistant – This is wind resistant which means that it helps break the wind and keep the wearer warmer.
- Shirt 1/4 Zip closure – This shirt has a 1/4 zip closure which means that it is a pullover that has a zipper that goes about 1/4 of the way down the shirt.
- Adjustable Sleeve Cuffs – Sleeves have either a button or hook and loop adjustable cuff for fit and wear.
- Jacket Drawstring – This jacket has a drawstring at the waist that can be tightened or loosened. This helps the wear regulate the warmth and comfort of the jacket.
- Zippered Shoulder Pockets – Pockets on shoulders for storing small items with zippered closure.
