The Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross was issued in 4 degrees. Each degree has a different device attachment, and this attached device determined who awarded the award. If a palm device is attached the award was cited before the Army, if a gold star is attached the award was a Corps citation, if a silver star is attached the award was a Division citation and if a bronze star is attached then the citation was awarded at the Regiment or Brigade level.
