The 12th Field Artillery Regiment was constituted into the regular army in June of 1916. Throughout their history the 12th has been redesignated several times but its final redesignation was in September of 1971 as the 12th Field Artillery Regiment. The 12th Field Artillery Regiment has participated in WWI, WWII, The Korean War, The Vietnam War, The Iraq War and the War in Afghanistan. The 12th currently has 2 active elements, 1st Battalion stationed at Fort Sill in Oklahoma and 2nd Battalion stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado.
