These are US Army 5th Infantry Division Patches. These are WWII era full color patches. The 5th Infantry Division has been activated and deactivated several times in their history. These activity dates are 1917-1921, 1939-1946 and 1947-1992. The 5th Infantry Division took part in the Vietnam conflict, and during their stint in Vietnam (1968 to 1971) the 5th was dispatched to relieve the Marines who had held off the Tet Offensive as well as defending the Vietnamese Demilitarized Zone.
