These are US Army Gen 1 Improved Outer Tactical Vests (IOTV) in UCP. These vests are the first iteration of the Army’s IOTV, which was adopted for use in 2007. The Gen 1 IOTV features a Cordura construction, adjustable shoulder straps, adjustable cummerbund, generous amounts of MOLLE webbing across the plate bags and cummerbund and is releasable for those times where the armor must come off quickly. The IOTV was the replacement for the aging Interceptor Body Armor Vest (IBA) that had been in use with the US Military since the year 2000. The IOTV hosted several upgrades over the IBA that were designed to make the soldiers’ life better. These upgrades included a new soft armor cut that better covered the torso, integrated side armor pockets, improved auxiliary components and was made to be releasable. Releasable carriers became a requirement military wide as the need to quickly remove the armor in an emergency or medical situation became more necessary. Carriers include front/ rear plate bags, cummerbund, inner elastic cummerbund and both front/ rear soft armor panels. Carriers DO NOT include any auxiliary pieces such as DAPs, groin protector or the yoke & collar.
