Description
These are US Army Gen 2 Improved Outer Tactical Vests (IOTV) in Multicam. The Gen 2 IOTV was the successor to the Gen 1 IOTV which had been in use with the Army since 2007. The IOTV was designed as a more modular and releasable body armor carrier giving end users greater scalability depending on mission set. The IOTV features hard and soft armor capability, a release cable assembly, adjustable cummerbund, adjustable shoulders, shoulder pads as well as having several additional modular components to increase the protection factor. These addition components can include lower back protectors, groin protectors, shoulder/deltoid protectors and neck/collar protectors. The IOTV uses a revised soft armor cut that more completely wraps around the user leaving fewer spaces between panels where ballistic threats can sneak through. - Releasable Body Armor – Body armor has a release handle and cord for emergency doffing of armor. This is for situations when the body armor has to be taken off in a hurry, such as due to injury or when submerged in water. THIS IS NOT FOR REGULAR DONNING AND DOFFING. Body armor comes apart and must be completely put back together when release cable or handle is pulled.
