US Military Prototype Reversible APECS Parka, Woodland Camo

This is a Prototype “Reversible” Woodland APECS Parka that was potentially trialed by the US Military. Unfortunately information on such an item is scarce at best so what we know about this jacket is purely based on its overall design and look compared to issued parkas. This parka features many of the same design features found on currently issued APECS parka. These features include full length zipper closure, zippered armpits, chest pockets, waist pockets, shoulder pocket, rank tab, adjustable sleeve cuff and a stowable hood in the collar. This is where the similarities stop and the differences begin. Unlike its issued counterparts this parka does not have waist adjusters, hand pockets behind the waist pockets, has a single shoulder pocket and the stowable hood is kept in the collar with a zipper over the normal hook and loop method. The biggest difference is the fact this was designed to be a “reversible” parka. All of the external features are replicated on the inside so this parka could be worn inside out to better suit changing environments rather than issuing a second parka for alternate environments. While it is reversible the interior of the parka is not “finished” as you can see the standard Gore-Tex Lining material and Gore Seam Tape. Along with the visible Gore-Tex material on the inside several other details point to this being a prototype item such as non-matching hook and loop, stitching color and lack of any identifying tags. Overall, this is an extremely unique piece that would be a killer centerpiece to any rare and unique milsurp collection.
