These are reproductions of US Navy WWII Foul Weather Pullover Smocks. These smocks are a faithful recreation of the later pattern WWII Foul Weather Pullover Smock with drawstring closure. These original smocks would have been worn by US Navy deck crewman to help keep them dry whether the water if falling from the sky or spraying from the sea. Waterproofing was done by applying a rubberized coating to the cotton canvas smock however these reproductions lack that feature as the rubberized coatings were found to degrade or dry rot over time so for the purpose of keeping them flexible for wear they decided to leave it off the reproductions. The smocks are constructed from 100% cotton canvas which makes them durable and wind resistant. Additionally, they feature a drawstring chest closure, hood with drawstring adjustment, lower jacket cinch, button sleeve cuffs as well as hood and pit vent grommets.
