These are US Airforce Airmen Battle Ensemble Top’s. The Airmen Battle Ensemble (ABE) is a lesser known ABU variation that was designed to be given to Air Force personnel such as TACP’s, PJ’s or CCT’s who may be attached to other US Military units who are conducting combat operations. As the GWOT went on it was discovered the standard ABU uniform was not cutting it for USAF personnel in combat zones and the need for a flame resistant variation of the uniform was needed. In 2008 the USAF temporarily adopted the ABE as a stopgap measure to provide USAF personnel with a fire resistant uniform while in theater. The ABE would only be utilized for a few years as the USAF moved forward with a rule allowing USAF personnel in combat zones to wear the US Army’s flame resistant uniform until full OCP adoption began in 2018. The ABE features a flame resistant material construction, button closure, adjustable sleeve cuffs, zippered shoulder pockets, zippered forearm pockets, 4 chest pockets and a loop field on the shirts front left for patches or identifiers. Flame Resistant – Will not catch fire when exposed to flames. It will burn but it will not drip or catch fire.
Clothing Button Closure – Has buttons for the closure.
Adjustable Sleeve Cuffs – Sleeves have either a button or hook and loop adjustable cuff for fit and wear.
Zippered Pockets – Pockets have a zipper closure to secure contents.
Shoulder Pockets – Includes pockets on the shoulder for small items.
Chest Pockets – Has pockets on the front of the chest.
