These are USGI 1606 Rucksack Frames. These 1606 frames are designed to work with the US Army’s MOLLE 4000 Ruck or the USMC FILBE Large Ruck. The 1606 frame is an upgrade from the older MOLLE II frame that’s in use by the US Army. The older MOLLE II frame is large and awkward to wear with kit, these 1606 frame address those issues by being smaller, lighter and more ergonomic overall allowing end users to more easily wear their rucks over their other equipment.
