Description
This is a M1 helmet cover is the Mitchell Pattern camo. The covers reversible with one side featuring the “wine leaf” pattern and the other the “cloud” pattern. These covers were used throughout the Vietnam War and were replaced with ERDL camo covers. There are holes in the cover for attaching vegetation for additional camo.

- Mitchell Camo Pattern – The Mitchell Camo pattern was developed after the Korean War and consisted of two camo patterns that were typically used on the either side of reversible equipment. It was initial used on shelter halves and was later adopted for use on helmet covers as well. One side of the camo pattern is commonly referred to as “wine leaf” and consists of overlapping leaf and twig shapes across shades of green and brown. This pattern is all on top of a lighter green background. The other side if the pattern is commonly called “clouds” and consists of various shades of brown and tan cloud shapes. The reversible pattern made it good for a wide range of environments, with the clouds pattern mainly for winter use. The camo saw use through the Vietnam War and would be replaced with ERDL.
