These are USGI M1966 Nylon Jungle Hammocks without Canopy in Olive Drab. The M1966 Jungle Hammock pulled inspiration from captured NVA hammocks used during the Vietnam War. The North Vietnamese knew about the dangers of the jungles “creepy crawlies”, so they used hammocks to sleep above ground avoiding most of the nasty bugs. The US saw this as a solution for their own troops and began issuing hammocks as well. The hammocks are constructed from tight nit nylon material, are 100 inches long by 34 inches wide and weigh in at 1 pound 6 oz. Included with each hammock is a pair of 14 foot long tree lines for tying up the hammock.
