Description

M69 Flak Vests provide "Flak" or Shrapnel protection only. M69 Flak Vests were designed and used before the NIJ developed standards for body armor and therefore they DO NOT have an NIJ rating.

These are USGI M69 Flak Vests with 3/4 Collars. These Flak Vests were issued to US ground Troops throughout the Vietnam War and provided fragmentation protection to the users torso. While good at providing protection from flak or shrapnel they did not protect users from pistol or rifle fire. These short coming eventually lead to the development of the more modern body armor systems that could defeat threats from pistol or rifle rounds. The M69 Flak Vest is constructed from a nylon outer shell with 12 layer ballistic nylon filler for the armor. Additionally, the vests feature a button/ zipper closure, buttoned chest pockets, side drawstring adjustments, chest webbing loops and drainage grommets.
