These are USMC Snow MARPAT Pack Covers. Snow MARPAT was developed around 2007 as a replacement for the standard white on over suits used by the USMC at the time. While white is usually sufficient in wintertime environments the USMC wanted something that worked better to enhance camouflaging capabilities in winter environments. While Snow MARPAT has been in service since about 2007 it is still rather uncommon to find due to the USMC’s control of certain camouflage items and their smaller fighting force. These pack covers are designed to be worn on medium to large rucksacks allowing them to better blend in in arctic/winter environments. The pack cover features a nylon material constructing ensuring they are lightweight and water resistant. Additionally, the opening on the pack cover is elastic which allows for easy installation on various medium to large rucksacks.
