Spot a Fake GPS-02 Grip Pod in 5 Easy Steps

How to Tell if Your GPS-02 Grip Pod is Fake or Real

Be confident in your gear – avoid wasting money by following these five simple checks.

How do you tell if your GPS-02 grip-pod is real or fake?

  1. Check that the mounting bolt on the top of the grip-pod has a smooth surface, and is not thin.

Real grip pods have a sturdy and strong mounting bolt. Fake grip pods have a skinny mounting bolt. The difference is simple and easy to spot. This difference is visible both from the top of the grip pod, as well as from the side.

  2. Loosen the wing-nut all the way. If it comes off, you have a fake.

The wing nut on a fake grip pod will unscrew until it falls off. An authentic GPS-02’s wing nut will not screw all of the way off.

  3. How deep are the grooves on the grip?

The hand grip for a real GPS-02 has deep grooves in it. The fake grip pods have a more bubbly look along the hand-grip.

  4. Look for the GPS trade-mark.

When in doubt, look at the branding! The authentic grips have the authentic logo on them.

  5. Does the bi-pod rattle after being deployed?

Deploy the bi-pod and give your fore-grip a shake. If you hear a rattling spring, you have a fake in your hands. Also check the legs for the steel reinforcement.

  6. Buy your Grip-Pod from Venture Surplus, we guarantee authenticity!
