This is an M40 Gas mask, often called a Pro-Mask, that was used by the US Military. Although widely replaced with the M50, this mask is still used in certain training events along with regular use outside of the military. The mask features two polycarbonate lenses that can accept outserts to provide some ballistic protection from shrapnel and other hazards. The mask accepts 40mm cannisters to protect the user, typically the C2 or C2A1 cannister. Cannister must be attached correctly for the gas mask to function. When used with the second skin, MOPP gear and 40mm cannister, which are sold separately, this mask will protect against CBRN threats. In addition to the cannister and second skin, the mask can accept voice amplifiers and special tubes that allow the user to drink water safely in a CBRN environment. This mask should only be used with the proper training and knowledge on how to correctly configure and use it.
