This is a side plate carrier for the US Army’s OTV, Outer Tactical Vest, that allows it to carry ESBI plates. Enhanced Side Ballistic Inserts are hard side plates that offer the same protection as SAPI plates, but on the sides of the vest. This side plate carrier can also be configured to hold up to size XS SAPI plates, but this is only recommended for larger users. In addition to the hard plates, soft armor is also carried on the inner pocket of this carrier to protect a wider area from shrapnel or pistol calibers. Overall this is a great piece for the IOTV that adds some protection to your kit.
