Description
This is the Improved Hot Weather Combat Uniform Top, from Propper, that is used in the US Army. This improved uniform was made with use in hot and humid environments in mind. The 57/43 NYCO Ripstop material is lighter weight, quicker drying and more breathable then the standard garrison 50/50 NYCO equivalent. With heat and mobility in mind the uniform has several other changes, besides material, from the older ACU style. The sleeves have been changed to an athletic raglan style for better movement and the chest pockets are now gone, to remove the heat retention of the multiple layer of fabric. The shirt is button up, for more airflow and for easier field repair. Shoulder pockets are back to flapped style, with button closure and they retain fields for hook and loop patches as well as a hideaway IR tab. Sleeve cuffs are a little thinner and button adjust. Due to the material being lighter weight these uniform fade faster then standard garrison uniform but not as bad a FRACU ones. Overall these are a great upgrade from the garrison tops and offer great modern features. While these are more of a jungle top, due to material, these work great in about all climates and still good for wear in milder temps. When new the pants come treated with Permethrin, a insect repellent, that fades in effectiveness with washes.

- Scorpion Camouflage, OCP – When Multicam was adopted as the replacement for UCP during deployment operations it was also considered for Army wide adoption for uniforms and gear. Licensing fees for the Multicam pattern were deemed to high and the US Army took to the predecessor, Scorpion OCP. Scorpion OCP had been developed alongside Multicam and shares most of the same design. Side by side Multicam and Scorpion look much the same, with differences being subtle. The base color of Scorpion is green, compared to brown in Multicam and the shading of all colors was changed slightly. Scorpion also has no vertical elements in the camo. Scorpion is currently referred to as OCP, or Operational Camouflage Pattern and is used for US Army Uniforms and most Army gear.
